Village of Alvo Board of Trustees

The Village Board of Trustees consists of five members of the community who have either been elected into their positions or have filled a vacated seat on the board. Board members serve two or four-year terms and play a pivotal role in shaping the present and future of the Alvo community. This position is at the heart of local governance, requiring dedication, strategic thinking, and a passion for community welfare. Under Nebraska law, the power to adopt and enforce ordinances for purposes of maintaining the peace, good government, and welfare of the village; prevent and remove nuisances; and regulate businesses is vested in the board of trustees.

As required per Nebraska State Statue as well as Village of Alvo Municipal Code Ordinance 1-101 annually during the December Regular Meeting of the board of trustees, one trustee must be elected by board members to serve as the Chairperson and one trustee as chairperson pro tempore or as the Village of Alvo also identifies as, the Vice Chairperson.

The Board of Trustees approves the monthly agenda while the Chairperson presides over the meeting proceedings, and ensures compliance with the Nebraska Open Meetings Act. The Chairperson pro tempore/Vice Chairperson serves in this role in the absence of the Chairperson.

Serving as a Trustee is an opportunity to contribute directly to the prosperity and well-being of the Village of Alvo.

The Regular Meeting of the Village of Alvo Board of Trustees is on the first Tuesday of each month, except on holidays. Please see the village calendar for scheduled board meetings and Village events.
